Siquijor in the distant horizon. Sunrise viewed from the Boulevard, a favorite spot for promenaders. It is also frequented by health-conscious people who do calisthenics and brisk walking to get the blood circulation going.

I'd like to pretend that's a sunset, actually, since I recall so well my first sunset in the Philippines. Of course, we were on the eastern side of Mactan Island so the sunset itself could not be seen...but the brilliant colors extended high over the horizon and provided a beautiful backdrop for the black silhouettes of exotic palm trees. It was a scene unlike any I had witnessed in America, and I got to spend it with a wonderful lady who I was spending my first moments with.
